Celebrating Jewish Heritage Month
Events

May is Jewish Heritage Month in Canada, a time to recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of Jewish Canadians to our province, country and world. Join the USask community in recognizing Jewish Heritage Month with a series of engaging activities and learning opportunities throughout May.
Banner and Book Display: Visit the ground floor of the Murray Library throughout the month to explore a captivating banner display, along with a collection of books and photos celebrating Jewish heritage and culture.
The Canadian Jewish Experience: A Tribute to Canada 150, is a travelling exhibit of nine educational banners that document Jewish history in Canada. It toured Canada in 2017 with a stop at the Diefenbaker Centre.
The comprehensive exhibit touches on many aspects of Canadian life, and through story-telling illustrates both the diversity of a country and inspiration from individual and collective perseverance.
After the left the Diefenbaker Centre in October of 2017, it travelled around the south of the province with the expectation that it would be returned to Agudas Israel Synagogue in Saskatoon. It never came home so a community member spent a few months in 2025 tracking its last movements. After some sleuthing it was found in a storage space at the synagogue in Regina and has been returned to Saskatoon to be a part of the inaugural Jewish Heritage Month display throughout the month of May at the University of Saskatchewan, Murray Library Ground Floor.
Craft Activity in the Arts Tunnel: Get creative by stopping by our table in the Arts Tunnel on May 21 from 10 am to 2 pm.
